Considered by many to be one of New Zealands most formidable breeders, Ruatiti remains committed to furthering its genetic quality for miniature highlands with the continued selection of imported embryo's and semen.
Previous calving years have produced outstanding colours so we are particularly excited this season as we await the arrival of new baby's.
Breeders of Horned and Hummel,[unadorned-poll] miniatures of all 6 colours, specialising in preserving traditional breed characteristics, structual correctness and excellent disposition in our highlands, Ruatiti's strong emphasis on genetic variation of pedigrees ensure our exceptional animals will add functionality and beauty to your fold.
Situated in the central North Island of New Zealand, Ruatiti Highlands miniature breeding program began in 1999 with the extensive use of their 300+ purebred herd of full size highlands.
Careful selection over 6 breeding years confirmed the miniature gene existed with the last 5 breeding years ensuring the gene is stabilised.
Ruatiti's herd of full size highlands was reduced to a handful of favorites as it continues to refine its miniature breeding program supported by new Folds.
Ruatiti's reputation has been built on honest advice and genetic variation with Ruatiti bred animals consistent award winners and an absolute credit to their new owners.
Ruatiti remain the only Highland Stud in NZ to have bred a Two time "Meat & Wool Cup" Champion, NZ's most prestigious beef award.
